The Thai Arbitration Institute (TAI) has recently admitted six distinguished arbitrators to its roster.

Results of the Moot Court Competition for the Selection of Thailand’s Representative to Participate in the ASEAN Law Association Moot Competition 2026

On Wednesday, 18 March 2026, the Office of International Affairs, in collaboration with the Thai Arbitration Institute (TAI), Office of the Judiciary, successfully organized a moot competition to select Thailand’s representatives to participate in the ASEAN Law Association Moot Competition 2026 alongside teams from other ASEAN countries. The event was made possible with the valued cooperation of numerous distinguished lawyers from various sectors, who also served as moot judges.

Competition Results

Winner: Team Celestial Fighters, Chulalongkorn University

First Runner-Up: Team Due Process Girls, Thammasat University

Second Runner-Up: Team PPPN and Team Peace, Chulalongkorn University

Best Memorials: Team Sigma Sodium, Thammasat University and Chulalongkorn University

Best Mooter: Ms. Natcha Suriyapanich, Thammasat University

The award ceremony was presided over by Justice Thiratai Charoenwong, Secretary General of the Office of the Judiciary, who presented the President of the Supreme Court Trophy, along with prizes and certificates to the winners.

The event was attended by distinguished members of the judiciary and arbitration community, reflecting strong support for the development of advocacy skills among future legal professionals.

The Thai Arbitration Institute, Office of the Judiciary (TAI) welcomed a delegation from the Faculty of Law, Kyushu University, Japan

On Thursday, 5 March 2026, at 10:00 hours, Ms. Kamonchanok Katinasamit, Judge of the Office of the President of the Supreme Court and Executive Director of TAI, together with Ms. Sudtida Teera-anuwat, Director of the Office of Arbitration, welcomed a delegation from the Faculty of Law, Kyushu University, Japan, led by Professor Ren YATSUNAMI and Professor Unho LEE.

During the visit, the delegation observed the hearing facilities and received a briefing on “Arbitration in Thailand and the Role of TAI.” The visit was organized as part of an academic exchange activity under the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the Office of the Judiciary and the Faculty of Law, Kyushu University.

The Thai Arbitration Institute, Office of the Judiciary (TAI), Welcomes a Study Visit Delegation from the Faculty of Law, Thammasat University

On Monday, 16 February 2026, at 1:30 p.m., the Thai Arbitration Institute (TAI), led by Ms. Kamonchanok Kathinasamit, Judge of the Court of First Instance attached to the Office of the President of the Supreme Court and Executive Director of TAI, together with Ms. Sudthida Theraanuwat, Director of the Arbitration Office, and Ms. Rujira Jiwalak, Senior Legal Officer and Head of the Legal and System Development Division, welcomed a group of 53 students from the Faculty of Law, Thammasat University.

On this occasion, Ms. Kamonchanok Kathinasamit delivered a lecture on “Dispute Resolution through Arbitration under the Operations of TAI” and provided an opportunity for questions and an exchange of views. After the lecture, the delegation was given a tour of the arbitration hearing rooms at the Thai Arbitration Institute, located on the 5th floor of the Criminal Court Building, Ratchadaphisek Road, Bangkok.

TAI Smart Internship 2025

Delegates from the International Centre for Settlement of Investment Disputes (ICSID) met with the Secretary-General of the Office of the Judiciary

On Wednesday, April 30, 2025, at 3 PM, at the reception room, 26th floor, Office of the Judiciary Building, Ratchadapisek Road, Bangkok, a delegation from the International Centre for Settlement of Investment Disputes (ICSID), consisting of Ms. Martina Polasek, Secretary-General of the ICSID; Mr. Jonathan Chevry, Legal Advisor of the ICSID; and Ms. Anita Ambroise, Senior Strategy Officer of the World Bank, met with Mr. Thiratai Charoenwong, Secretary-General of the Office of the Judiciary. The purpose of the meeting was to exchange views and discuss ways to develop the process for resolving international investment disputes, both in terms of legal aspects and case management, particularly in relation to arbitration.

In this regard, Mr. Manop Charaschanyawong, an Appeal Court Justice of the Office of the President of the Supreme Court, and Ms. Kamonchanok Katinasamit Judge of the Office of the President of the Supreme Court and the Executive Director of the TAI, also participated in the discussion.

Academic Seminar for arbitrators on the topic of "Challenges and Techniques in Managing Disputes in the Arbitral Proceedings”

On Wednesday, April 30, 2025, starting at 8:00 AM, at the Swissotel Bangkok Ratchada, the Thai Arbitration Institute (TAI) organized an academic seminar for arbitrators on the topic of "Challenges and Techniques in Managing Disputes in the Arbitral Proceedings." The seminar was honored with the presence of Mr. Thiratai Charoenwong, Secretary-General of the Office of the Judiciary, as the opening ceremony's presiding guest, and Ms. Kamonchanok Katinasamit Judge of the Office of the President of the Supreme Court and the Executive Director of the TAI, who address the report on the event.

The first session featured a special lecture by Professor Vichai Ariyanuntaka, an advisor to the TAI, on the topic "Opening Perspectives on the Challenges in Managing Disputes in the Arbitral Proceedings." This was followed by a discussion panel on "Challenges and Techniques in Managing Disputes in the Arbitration Process," with distinguished speakers including Mr. Somchai Julniti, Mr. Rattakarn Boonneua, and Associate Professor Dr. Munin Pongsapan, arbitrators. The panel was moderated by Ms. Danaya Tangdhanakanond, Chief Judge of the Office of the President of the Supreme Court.

This seminar served as an important opportunity to enhance knowledge, exchange experiences, and develop essential skills in arbitration dispute management. It also provided guidance for arbitration practitioners in addressing problems and obstacles that may arise during the arbitral proceedings, with a focus on maintaining neutrality and independence, thereby supporting a transparent and efficient arbitration process.

TAI Welcomes New Executive Director

On April 1, 2025, the Thai Arbitration Institute (TAI) welcomed its new Executive Director, Ms. Kamonchanok Katinasamit, Judge of the Office of the President of the Supreme Court. She succeeds Ms. Danaya Tangdhanakanond, Chief Judge of the Office of the President of the Supreme Court, who formally handed over the position. During the handover ceremony, Ms. Tangdhanakanond congratulated Ms. Katinasamit on her new role and expressed her appreciation to the Office Director and TAI officers for their steadfast support and collaboration in advancing TAI’s mission.

On 9th October 2024 at 10:00 AM. Ms. Danaya Tangdhanakanond, Executive Director of the Thai Arbitration Institute, Office of the Judiciary (TAI), Chief Judge of the President of the Supreme Court, together with TAI executives and officers has joined a discussion with Mrs. Thantip Jongjakapun, Justice of the Supreme Court acting Chief Judge of the Central Intellectual Property and International Trade Court, together with the Central Intellectual Property and International Trade Court executives at the Central Intellectual Property and International Trade Court, Government Complex Commemorating His Majesty, Ratchaburidirekrit Building (Building A) about in-court arbitration development guidelines and utilizing mediation-arbitration proceedings according to the policy of the President of the Supreme Court, “to sustain” alternative dispute resolution based on economic and social environment along with the context of each court.

ภายใต้ความร่วมมือระหว่างสำนักอนุญาโตตุลาการ สำนักงานศาลยุติธรรม และสภาทนายความในพระบรมราชูปถัมภ์ โดยมีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อให้กระบวนการอนุญาโตตุลาการในประเทศไทยสามารถรองรับและเตรียมความพร้อมสำหรับข้อพิพาทรูปแบบใหม่ที่เกิดขึ้น และให้ผู้มีส่วนเกี่ยวข้องทราบแนวปฏิบัติในการดำเนินกระบวนพิจารณาในชั้นอนุญาโตตุลาการที่เกิดขึ้นจริงในไทยและต่างประเทศ อีกทั้งยังเป็นเวทีในการแลกเปลี่ยนความคิดเห็น ประสบการณ์ และแนวปฏิบัติของนักกฎหมาย โดยเฉพาะทนายความและผู้มีส่วนเกี่ยวข้องในกระบวนการอนุญาโตตุลาการ ซึ่งนอกจากจะสามารถนำความรู้ที่ได้ไปปฏิบัติจริงแล้ว ยังสามารถนำมาประยุกต์ใช้กับกระบวนการอนุญาโตตุลาการทั้งในประเทศไทยและต่างประเทศให้สอดคล้องกับความต้องการของนักลงทุนทั้งในประเทศและระหว่างประเทศเพื่อนำไปสู่การพัฒนาอนุญาโตตุลาการไทยให้ได้มาตรฐานเป็นสากล

สำหรับวันแรก TAI Dialogue จะเป็นการหยิบหยก ประเด็นที่กำลังเป็นที่น่าจับตามองเกี่ยวกับการระงับข้อพิพาทในทางธุรกิจที่กำลังมาแรงและเป็นที่นิยม “ธุรกิจดิจิตอลและสตาร์ทอัพ” นอกจากนี้ ยังมีการอภิปรายถึง แนวโน้มของข้อพิพาทที่เข้าสู่การอนุญาโตตุลาการในประเทศไทย และความท้าทายในการดำเนินกระบวนพิจารณาจากมุมมองของผู้ที่เกี่ยวข้อง โดยเฉพาะ

นักกฎหมายและทนายความที่เป็นบุคคลสำคัญในกลไกการระงับข้อพิพาทด้วยการอนุญาโตตุลาการที่จะต้องมีการปรับตัว และเตรียมตัวเพื่อรองรับข้อพิพาทใหม่ๆ ที่กำลังจะเกิดขึ้นสืบเนื่องจากความเปลี่ยนแปลงอันรวดเร็วของการทำธุรกิจทั้งในและต่างประเทศ

สำหรับวันที่สอง จะเป็นเจาะลึกถึงประเด็นข้อพิพาทเกี่ยวกับการระงับข้อพิพาทโดยการอนุญาโตตุลาการที่เกิดขึ้น ณ ปัจจุบัน ซึ่งเป็นการแชร์ความรู้ และประสบการณ์จากทีมนักกฎหมายและทนายความผู้มีความเชี่ยวชาญของ Law Firm ชั้นนำ อาทิ Tilleke & Gibbins, Weerawong, Chinnavat & Partnes, Kudun & Partners ทำให้ผู้เข้ารับการอบรมได้ทราบถึงแนวโน้ม และประเด็นที่กำลังเป็นที่น่าสนใจ และจับตามอง ซึ่งสะท้อนถึงแนวโน้มและทิศทางของการค้าและการลงทุนในประเทศไทย

The Award Ceremony of the TAI-ALA Arbitration Moot Competition 2024

On 6th August 2024, at 9.00 – 11.00 hours, the Office of International Affairs and the Thai Arbitration Institute, Office of the Judiciary (TAI) jointly held the final round of the TAI-ALA Arbitration Moot 2024 competition to win the President of the Supreme Court’s Trophy. In this regard, Prof. Vichai Ariyanuntaka, Advisor to the Thai Arbitration Institute was honored to be the Chairman of the judging panel in this final round.

In the award ceremony at 11.00 – 12.00 hours, Mr. Thani Singhanat, Secretary-General of the Office of the Judiciary, was honored to provide the President of the Supreme Court’s Trophy and the Secretary-General of the Office of the Judiciary’s Trophy, together with the certificate and prize money for the winner. In this regard, Mr. Sorawit Limparangsri, Chief Judge of the Office of the President of the Supreme Court, President of the Student Selective Committee, Ms. Danaya Tangdhanakanond, Executive Director of the Thai Arbitration Institute, Chief Judge of the Office of the President of the Supreme Court, Mr. Tassayu Kulsitthichaiya, Chief Judge of the Office of the President of the Supreme Court, and Ms. Madee Thammasatjakul, Assistant Secretary-General of the Office of the Judiciary, and the judging panels attending the award ceremony at the meeting room, 12th floor, Criminal Court Building.

On 3rd July 2024, at 14.00 – 15.30 hours, the Thai Arbitration Institute, Office of the Judiciary (TAI) together with Indonesia Dispute Board (IDB) held a webinar (via TAI’s Zoom and Facebook Live) on the topic of “Everything one needs to know about arbitration in Thailand and Indonesian ADRs”. The purpose of the webinar was to disseminate knowledge regarding the practice and procedure of arbitration and alternative dispute resolutions in Thailand and Indonesia, leading to the development of the arbitration system of both countries to meet the international standard. In this regard, Prof. Vichai Ariyanuntaka, Advisor to the Thai Arbitration Institute, together with Prof. Dr. Sabela Gayo, President of Indonesia Dispute Board, were honored to be speakers in this webinar, and Ms. Sanhaporn Korwatana, Legal Officer, Practitioner Level, performed as a moderator.
